Challenge
The MasterClass team wanted to build an AI-native business education program for senior leaders, in partnership with the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Because AI plays a central role in how the courses are taught, the course design had to work for both the learners and the technology. It was a new approach that few education programs had tried.
I designed detailed outlines for the program's finance and career development courses using backward design, starting from what senior leaders needed to be able to do. I combined my own research, supported by Claude, with insights from subject matter experts, who reviewed all material for accuracy. This way every course combined careful research with real-world expertise. From these validated outlines, I created training documentation to guide how the custom LLM would teach each course, so lessons stayed accurate, engaging, and in the right order.
I kept the courses practical, built around real business decisions instead of academic theory. I also helped develop video concepts for the high-profile figures featured in each course. Once the courses were built, I tested both on the platform and recommended fixes and improvements.
